Steve and Susan, natives of the Blue Ridge, combine soulful voices with the acoustic guitar and banjo. Their unique blend is rich in tradition with a flare of "hot licks" spicing up the duos sound.
By the age of seven, Steve Lewis was listening to his father's Flatt & Scruggs albums, and local steel string masters including Doc Watson, and Wayne Henderson. By age ten Steve's musical interest broadened to the 5-string banjo played bluegrass style. Now, with over 40 years behind the mic and many musical achievements including the coveted National Guitar Flat Picking award and two-time National Bluegrass Banjo champion. Steve teaches Mountain Music in the Cultural Arts Program at Ashe County High School, provides private lessons on all stringed instruments, and is a full time member of the Jeff Little Trio.
Susan Smith Trianosky "Suebobb" pounds out rhythm on the guitar or bass to Steve's tasteful note selections. She puts her heart and soul into singing familiar songs by Carter family and other traditional artist learned growing up just a few miles from the River House. Susan, an original member of the Appalachian Mountain Girls, is also a member of the Grayson Highlands Old Time String Band.
