Elegant but unpretentious, the River House restaurant is known for its great food and ambiance. Only minutes from West Jefferson and forty-five minutes from Boone, River House is the first choice for Fine Dining in the Ashe County High Country.

Our two full-service bars feature a broad range of international wines, beers, traditional and artisanal beverages.

Breakfast is served daily from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. This is complimentary for our Inn guests. However, if you would like to join us as a non-resident guest, please call 336-982-2109 to reserve.

Dinner is served Wednesday through Saturday (reservations are a must) – and on Sunday, join us for our Sunday Salon with live entertainment starting at 4:00 PM, hors d'oeuvres and a 4-course Chef's-choice dinner at 6:00 PM. $45 excluding alcohol, tax and gratuity.

Making food that delights the palate and the eye is my passion. Food is the key to achieving and maintaining happiness and health. Awakening people's taste buds to the delicious variety of foods available and sharing their ease of preparation for home use gives me great satisfaction.

My career in food service spans more than thirty years. From four-star hotels, exclusive private resorts/spas and country clubs in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Food Service Director at Nature's Food Patch in Clearwater, Florida, I have continued to learn about the connection between food, diet and health. Positions in a Kosher kitchen and an organic gluten-free café have added to my experience and diversity. My most recent post at Crystal Bay Hotel in Saint Petersburg, Florida allowed me to fully explore the healthy whole food diet in a fine-dining setting. At River House, I bring this experience to continue its tradition of fine food in a country setting.

Outside the kitchen, I am an avid writer, photographer and organic gardener. Traveling to new places and discovering new fruits, vegetables and recipes is a delight. I greatly enjoy long and peaceful walks with my wife on our new farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

For the past three years I have combined all of my skills to produce, my blog devoted to a healthy whole food lifestyle. This has become my mission: to use my culinary and nutritional knowledge combined with my writing and photography skills and life experiences to help others achieve healthier, happier lives.

River House is the ultimate environment for continuing this mission and I am honored to be part of this committed team.
